Opinion
West Valley College basketball would still be a state title contender (rather than its current status of a 13-0 bulldozer) had Elijah Mahi actually moved on to Santa Clara University. Mahi signed with the Broncos but something happened and the 6-foot-6 sophomore forward, the best player on West Valley, ended up returning to the Vikings in that same status.
This season he is averaging 15.8 points in 13 games and starts. Mahi is shooting 52%, 47% and 69% respectively while grabbing 7.5 rebounds a contest and dishing out 5.2 assists an outing.
West Valley has faced two close calls thus far this season, winning in a San Diego tourney versus Fullerton 82-81 and topping host Fresno City College 80-67.
Will Mahi head back to Santa Clara after this season or head elsewhere? The answer on this subject has yet to publicly surface but he didn't sign in early November when the opportunity to do so was present.
