"West Valley is at top for fifth straight week"

Yes, it's early but it's beginning to get difficult in seeing anyone taking down West Valley. Fullerton came close 82-81 in a tournament in San Diego. San Diego City College lost by seven at home 77-70. Also at home, Chabot was down by just six points at the half before losing by 11, 77-66.

CCSF hosts West Valley on January 5 and Coach Justin Labagh will have his guys ready but the Rams don't appear to be as dominant as past years. Undefeated Cabrillo comes to West Valley on January 17.

UPDATE: Lloyd Pierce is a lead assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers of the NBA. He has also coached with five other NBA teams: the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Atlanta Hawks. The name should be familiar to those in the Bay Area as he attended Yerba Buena High and then went on to stay local at Santa Clara. After a few years playing overseas, Pierce started his coaching tenure as a volunteer in the director of basketball operations position at Santa Clara during the 2002–03 season. He was part of Dick Davey's staff until 2007. In 2016, when the Broncos were pursuing a new head coach, he was a finalist for the Santa Clara head coaching job. It went to the current head coach, Herb Sendek.
