News Bits

Out of the Sacramento area, 6-foot-4 Ben Roseborough has committed to San Jose State University. After attending Monterey Trail High, he went to two prep schools, one in Arizona and then the other in Colorado. The Spartans offered him way back in September 2022, Roseborough took an official visit on December 12, 2023 and he committed on December 13, 2023. Recruiting began with Assistant Coach Ben Johnson (now departed), then Coach Tim Miles stayed on Roseborough.

How did SJSU land such a talented scorer and passer, with a college ready body? A series of injuries has kept Roseborough sidelined with the big time programs who were once interested (including UCLA) bailing.  When a top level prospect is sidelined, they just move on to another five star talent. There is no patience or waiting.

Roseborough's the best recruit in the last 20 years or so for the Spartans and will be an immediate starter next season. He has an NIL deal with Lead Athletic Performance, a gym located in Roseville.

The biggest question is once Roseborough is fully healthy and playing like he did earlier (an IF at this point), can the Spartans keep him? NIL dollars may get attractive and going pro might even be an option. Yes, you read that right.
