On Friday at home, UC Santa Cruz downed Claremont - Mudd - Scripps 67-64 on a late game three-pointer by Banana Slug Andrew (West Campus High/Sacramento City College) Ferrara-Jones.
Last Saturday, 6-foot-9 Landon (Wood High) Seaman enjoyed 24 points alongside 11 boards in the Menlo College 72-60 victory over San Francisco State. He played 37 minutes yet surprisingly didn't shoot a free throw all evening.
Also on Saturday, despite Shane (Salesian Prep) Bell providing a team best 20 points, Cal State Los Angeles fell 90-74 to Vanguard, the hoops program in Costa Mesa, not the financial services firm. For the victors, 6-foot-5 grad student Leonard (Moreau Catholic High) Turner just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.
In yet another Saturday pairing, UC Merced edged Stanislaus State 86-83 in overtime. 6-foot-3 junior guard Cameron (Bishop O'Dowd) Brown posted a well-rounded line of 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Merced-ites.
Then home again on Sunday, UC Santa Cruz bested Whitman 83-79 behind 6-foot-9 Joseph (Pleasant Grove High) Espy's 23 points. He added six rebounds and a trio of blocked shots.

6-foot-3 junior Nick (Oak Ridge High/Norwich University/American River College) Graves is averaging 10.0 points per game on 46%, 35% and 71% shooting respectively at Waldorf University in Iowa. That is in eight games/three starts and 21 minutes of play per contest. He is also contributing 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists an outing.

6-foot junior Drew (Sacramento City College) Fischer is averaging 6.3 points, 3.8 and 2.7 assists in six game/starts and 23 minutes an outing while shooting 37%, 3% and 71% respectively. He has also grabbed 10 steals.

In four games and 19 minutes a night, 6-foot freshman Trey (Moreau Catholic High) Knight is averaging 11.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per matchup at Tacoma Community College (WA). He also has four steals. Tacoma is picked to finish third in conference play.

Dischon (St. Patrick St. Vincent/Washington State/Charlotte) Jackson keeps getting larger and larger—a steady 6-foot-11 but at 274 now (Charlotte had him at 260). But as a redshirt senior, he's starting for Iowa State and just provided 13 points plus three boards in 21 minutes versus powerful Auburn. On the season, Jackson is averaging 19 minutes a contest, 10.3 points plus 6.3 rebounds while shooting 57% overall, 77% at the foul line and with no three-point attempts. He has taken 22 foul shot attempts. In four games, Jackson has blocked five shots and been charged with just six fouls. It's difficult to see him in the NBA considering his offensive game is limited but he'll play for years overseas.

Not surprisingly, Aidan (Campolindo High/St. Mary's) Mahaney is struggling a bit at UConn as the surrounding talent level is higher and the coaching much tougher. In six games, five starts and 18 minutes per outing, he is averaging 4.8 points a contest with 12 assists versus just three turnovers but his shooting accuracy is way off. Try 29%, 29% and 50% (1-2 free throws). In comparison, he finished his sophomore year in Moraga shooting 39%, 36% and 81%. He'll perform better.

Just discovered that former Piedmont High talent 6-foot-6, 210 Brit Burden is on Coach Eric Musselman's USC roster. It look like he is a walk-on and is redshirting this season. Here is the feature we did on him last February.

Norfolk State 76 76, UC Davis 55 box. 6-foot sophomore guard Connor (Dougherty Valley High) Sevilla led the Aggies with 15 points, shooting 3-6 from long distance. Davis was out-shot from the floor by 10% plus suffered 23 turnovers, hence the 55 points total.

Clemson 70, USF 55 box. Using a 46-26 second 20 minutes, Clemson handled the Dons in a tournament played in Daytona Beach. San Francisco struggled for points as freshman forward Tyrone Riley IV, hitherto a high scorer, shot 1-2 for two points (a dunk).

San Francisco 85, Fordham 64 box. The Dons bounced back to shoot 61% overall plus 55% on 20 three-point attempts.
San Diego State 71, Creighton 53 box. Aztec guard BJ (Modesto Christian High) Davis came near a double-double via 18 points and nine boards. Teammate Miles (Lincoln High ) Byrd enjoyed 16 points.
Grand Canyon 78, Stanford 71 box. (in Palm Springs) Still on a not streak which likely has actually become his routine, Maxime Reynaud still provided 21 points in the loss, the first for Stanford.
Northern Colorado 92, Northern New Mexico 50 box. USF transfer wing Isaiah (Tracy High/USF) Hawthorne exploded for 27 points in the win.
San Jose State University 69, UNC Greensboro 64 box. The Spartans have a two game winning streak.
