Jake Lieberman: "6'6 Deonte Williams from SGTC Juco committed to Sacramento St this week. Why?

"They're building something very special. Coach David Patrick and the coaching staff are about family and that was the first thing I noticed when I took my visit. I can’t wait to be apart of this program."

Williams is a sophomore big guard out of Australia and is currently attending South Georgia Technical College. His numbers? 14.9 points per game, 53%, 29% and 53% shooting, 6.8 rebounds a contest and 4.7 assists an outing. In 21 games, he has 44 steals and 20 blocked shots.

The NorCal connection? 6-foot-4 junior Michael (West High/Las Positas College/Chico State) Hayes 

will be looking for another school since Antelope Valley is closing. In 25 games, he is averaging 16 points per game while shooting 57%, 36% and 57% plus seven rebounds alongside a stellar 49 steals and 13 blocked shots which isn't bad for someone 6-foot-4.

Paul Meadors: "Clovis North does it! They win the D1 Central Section title by defeating St. Joseph 69-60. The Broncos played excellent second half basketball, only 7 turnovers for the game and 19-22 free throws."

Connor Amundsen scored 21 points and Jordan Espinoza 20 points for the victors. Amundsen is headed to Dartmouth and Espinoza is staying in California at Cal State East Bay.

CCCMBCA: "Sacramento City matches Santa Rosa’s win with an 85-71 win over Modesto. Sacramento and Santa Rosa will share the Big Eight Conference title."

Two well-coached teams. Seems like there should be a one game, neutral site pairing for possession of the conference championship.

The CalPac Conference Player of the Week (February 26)

"Dennis Pomazanov of Embry-Riddle was a huge part of the Eagles' 1-1 week, averaging 20.5 points per game and adding two more double-doubles. Playing two playoff-bound teams on the road, the junior forward from Pleasant Hill, CA, tied his season high in rebounds with 17 and added 18 points against La Sierra. Two days later he followed that up with 23 points and 12 rebounds against Cal Pac champion Antelope Valley."

He's out of College Park High.

  • Texas A&M Corpus Christi 91, Houston Christian 79 full box score. Besides his four assists and three steals, 6-foot-2 junior Marcus (Archbishop Mitty/Scotland Prep/Sacramento State/Panola College) Greene of HC tallied 30 points, powered by 6-10 three-point shooting.
  • Nicholls 92, Incarnate Word 82 full box score. Alas, the handshake line at game's end was uneventful. 6-foot-5 junior Dylan (Healdsburg High) Hayman enjoyed 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for IW.

  • Texas 81, Tech Tech 69 full box score. For TT, guard Chance (Bethel High/Grand Canyon University) McMillian scored 10 points while grabbing nine boards.
  • Vanderbilt 85, Arkansas 82 full box score. Ezra (Heritage High/UC Davis) Manjon finished with 22 points plus four rebounds and three assists for the winning Commodores.
  • San Diego State 72, San Jose State University 64 full box score. The Aztecs shot 22 foul shots to two for the Spartans. For SJSU, Myron (Vacaville High) Amey Jr. posted a 17 point, 10 rebound, four assist line for SJSU.
