The return of the St. Mary's High (Stockton) grad is a big time get back. Cal Poly took him on as a walk-on team membera couple of years ago and such likely played at least some of a role in his coming back to the Mustangs.

Joe Tipton: "NEWS: Long Beach State transfer guard Gavin Sykes, the Big West Freshman of the Year, has committed to TCU, he told On3. The 6-4 freshman avergaged 19.4 points per game, shooting nearly 39% from three. Was also Second Team All-Big West."
The Modesto Christian High grad is now playing in the Big 12 Conference (Kansas, Arizona, BYU, Houston, Texas Tech) so the competition will be much tougher and for a program that beat Ohio State in the Big Dance before falling to Duke this past season.

College Basketball Content: "NEWS: San Francisco transfer Ryan Beasley has committed to Washington, he tells me. The 5-11 junior guard averaged 13.6 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 4.0 APG. Shot 40.7% from the field."
Out of Dougherty Valley High, Beasley is moving up from the West Coast Conference to the Big 10 Conference. UW Coach Danny Sprinkle has gone 13-18, then 16-17 in his first two years in Seattle and some degree of pressure is mounting. He recently lost his standout freshman frontcourter to the NBA draft which won't help the cause plus Beasley will be facing a higher level of opposition.

He's for a former St. Mary's backcourter (two seasons) and at 6-foot-3, he posted a 2.92 assist-to-turnover ratio (74/29) this past season while putting up 6.7 points, 2.5 boards and 2.3 assists nightly. In 32 games, 25 starts and 21 minutes an outing, he shot 42%, 31% and 78% alongside 21 steals.
California also recently signed 6-foot-9 wing Jake Wilkins, Dominique's son.

Looks like the Gaels will still need to add a center.

The 6-foot-7, 230 Ripp is out of Archbishop Mitty. His mother, Kathryn, played collegiate volleyball at Pacific, his brother, Jake Ripp, plays football (middle linebacker) at Boise State and cousin, Kade Eldridge, plays football (tight end) at Washington. Got some athletic genes flowing in that family.
