News Bits

With a new coach out of Canadian hoops circles, transfer portal Canadians are hitting Stockton in 2025:

Joe Moussa: "6’11 Dayton transfer Isaac Jack commits to Pacific. HC Dave Smart lands yet another Canadian recruit."

A biggun all the way around at 6-foot-11, 250 pounds, he scored just 3.2 points as a junior but did shoot a remarkable 82%, 31-38.

AND

6-foot-1 Canadian junior point Jaden Clayton out of University of Maine with 150 assists versus 58 turnovers plus throw in 59 steals.

AND

6-foot-8 Augustas Brazdeikis out of Carleton College in Canada. He can pop from outside and also work his way in the paint. It appears he has two years remaining but that's not definite.

AND

6-foot-1 shooting guard Alex Marmolejos out of Lamar University has a year of remaining eligibility. He'll be a starter. No Canadian passport here.

Pacific still has roster openings and first year Coach Dave Smart still needs additional talent. More signings are ahead.

Austin Mick: "6’2 JR Guard out of Chico State D2 JoJo (Piedmont High) Murphy tells me he is hearing from WCC and Big West Schools. Smooth handle with great use off hand swipe on attack. ELITE shooter off bounce and catch. Great feel. Very good midrange turnaround middie fade and crafty 2 foot finishes. Crafty around rim with finishes. D2 West Regional player of year.

20.7 PPG | 4.0 APG | 4.7 RPG | 47 FG% | 38 3 FG%."

As for the West Coast Conference, Seattle is a 2025 addition and Murphy has tripped to the Northwest. Haven't seen anything connecting Murphy to Santa Clara, USF or St. Mary's.

........................................

6-foot-8 Tyler (Granada High) Harris transferred out of Portland to play at Washington this season and then jumped back into the transfer portal. Haven't seen his name mentioned by the multitude of scouts and whatnot dotting the internet despite his attractiveness as a player. Strange.

........................................

Robel Zemmo: "100% COMMITTED!!"

He isn't going far just up to Chico State. The 6-foot-2 guard is out of West Valley College and Oakland Tech. Chico Coach Cevin Meador has lost a ton of talent to the transfer portal so playing time will be available to be earned.

........................................

Aidan James Braccia: "Home sweet home! Go Dons!"

The 6-foot-2 point has returned to the Bay Area from Belmont U (he graduated from Sacred Heart Prep). He appears to be a walk-on to the USF program. Good to have Aiden back.

........................................

Skyline College Men's Basketball: "Congrats to Nick Corbett on his full scholarship with Concordia. Nick spent 33 weeks in our workouts & practice- totally transforming his body & game. The result is a full ride, to a prestigious university in Newport Beach. Excited for his future!

The 6-foot-7, 235 pound Corbett is out of Bellarmine College Prep and averaged a double-double with 16.5 points and 11.9 rebounds alongside 2.7 assists per game. He shot 68% overall. Concordia University Irvine is a D2 program.

It would also be nice to have him back in the Bay Area but multiple around-the-bay players have done well at Montana so...

Shoots the 3 off under dribble pickups, triple threat, handoffs, and spots. Very good cutter and o rebounder. Elite defender with great length.

13 PPG | 45 FG% | 5 RPG | 3 APG"

But five days later, the quality of his suitors piked up considerably. So maybe he is coming out and maybe he isn't. It would be nice to see him playing ball in NorCal. He committed earlier to Florida International but changed his mind and went back out on the market.
