News Bits

Further in, it will seem like this is a Stanford recruiting newsletter but, hey, Kyle Smith and Crew are currently hyperactive in contacting prospective talents. Hey, we're just posting what we find. On with the show.

661 Hoops/Central Cali Prospects: "MCSummerClassic Day 1 - 5’9 McKae Amundsen | 2026 | Clovis North Basketball

"McKae was absolutely scotching hot from deep, as he would connected on 8 3s for a team high 24pts in a solid win over St. Ignatius. Amundsen keeps constant pressure on the defense, moves fluidly off the ball to get open looks, handles & moves to slice thru the defense, a pesky on-ball defender that creates turnovers, &, as stated, really coming into his own and playing/shooting w/superior confidence! Broncos looking strong to start the summer off!"

..................................

Cal Poly Humboldt Men's Basketball: "Cal Poly Humboldt signs Division I transfer Josiah Sanders, a combo forward from Central Michigan!"

Sanders stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 235. He is the third D1 transfer signed by second-year Coach Chris Tifft since the recruiting portal opened.

"Laker legend Jerry West's final legacy sadly includes estrangement from Lakers"

West was a genius at talent evaluating and forming a team. Landing Kobe Bryant -- a high school player!!! -- because he could envision 17-year-old Kobe's future when so many others couldn't, kiboshing a Klay Thompson for Kevin Love trade in 2014 -- match up the stats of those two -- and so on. FACT: Jeanie Buss is no Jerry Buss as a team owner and Rob Pelinka certainly is no Jerry West as a general manager. It's sad that egos weren't buried long ago and thus West remained in exile. It damaged the franchise to this day. What a player, what a general manager, what a consultant. Colossal success with each job title.
