David Hector Selects Southwest Baptist U in Mizzou

6-foot-4 Chabot College sophomore guard David Hector averaged 14.1 points (51% shooting overall, 36% from three-point range) plus 9.4 rebounds a game this season, just missing a double-double as a per game output. Add in 3.3 assists a contest alongside 1.3 steals. This production occurred while playing just under 29 minutes a contest. He also posted a 3.7 grade point average in the classroom. So it's no stretch to write that DII Southwest Baptist University in Missouri is getting an on the court and off the court gem.

Asked what he'll be bringing to the Bearcats program, he offered, "I'm a winner first and foremost and a great teammate."

With basketball, Hector breaks the family mold to a degree. "My Dad played basketball but I have cousins who played football at California, USC and Colorado State and a great uncle who was in the NFL."

After his senior year under Coach Frank Knight at Moreau Catholic High in Hayward, Hector headed south to Balboa School near San Diego for a prep season. But a torn meniscus and the COVID-19 pandemic interfered with his progress and he eventually returned to the Bay Area, landing at City College San Francisco. Hector didn't play much with the Rams during 2021-22 and then moved across the Bay to Chabot College for the following season. "Chabot is about 10 minutes away from where I live," Hector explained. "I visited Chabot and my Dad talked with Coach (Keenan) McMiller." It was a go.

About his 3.7 grade point average, Hector explained, "I've always done well in the classroom, giving the same effort I display on the court."

Besides his documented production on the court, he sees himself as a leader on the court. "I talk a lot and also make sure I'm ready to play."

His best basketball moment took place during his sophomore year at Moreau (2016-17). "We made a state championship run after starting out 2-9. We had a 22 game winning streak before losing in the playoffs (to Esperanza of Anaheim)."

He's looking to major in sports management.

Hector thanked "my family the most for helping out during my ups and downs."

Jaiden Rivera Decides on Belmont Abbey College

There are those players blessed with both physical talents and skill development opportunities aiding their advancement who know early on that the basketball gods and goddesses will bestow a college scholarship upon them post high school. For 6-foot-3 Chabot College sophomore guard Jaiden Rivera, such a sense took a while to arrive. His feeling that a college scholarship was within his grasp came "after the season. Everything ended and I took a couple of days for reflection. I put it in God's hands since I figured I did my part."

That at he did after scoring 14.9 points per game on 46%, 36% and 81% shooting alongside earning First Team All Coast-North Conference honors plus being a First Team All Defensive selection.

Now he is headed on a full scholarship to DII Belmont Abbey College, located in a suburb of Charlotte in North Carolina.

Signing the Letter of Intent

Why BAC? "The coach," Rivera explained. Dave Bellfield is the new coach at Belmont Abby, hired in mid-June. "I felt comfortable with the coaching staff knowing my game. They used Synergy software to watch all of my possessions, every single one of them."

Rivera also took a virtual tour of the campus. "It showed everything in 3D, really detailed." Offered a scholarship a couple of weeks ago, "it took me less than a day to decide," Rivera offered.

Asked what he would say to a student coming up to him in September and inquiring what Rivera would bring to the team, he said, "I'll bring energy and fire and play with a chip on my shoulder. Teammates will see my work ethic and follow."

Rivera will major in sports management. His long-term goal is "to teach kids like me how to maneuver through life and basketball." This is a goal particularly inspired by Art Barboza, founder and coordinator of The Striving Black Brothers Coalition on the Chabot campus. As Rivera said, "He helped me a lot, teaching me to be more than a basketball player."

Besides Barboza, Rivera offered thanks to "my great Grandma, my Grampa, my Dad and my siblings, all the people at Chabot who helped me, everyone on the basketball team and all those who doubted me when I first started playing."

He noted two best hoops moments. "I had a big game in the playoffs against Los Medanos this season" (33 points, seven boards and three assists, 8-16 shooting treys in an 89-82 second round victory in the CCCAA Regional). Rivera's second memory was broader focused. "Our whole season was very memorable. We beat CCSF (89-87 on February 1) and had a 14-game winning streak" (finishing 21-9 overall, 13-1 in the Coast-North Conference). "We changed the season narrative with a no days off attitude."

Rivera heads cross country to school in mid-August.

Jalen Patterson to the Cornhusker State

6-foot-1 Jalen Patterson possesses plus basketball skills--the ability to score, pass out assists, rebound and lead teammates--but his most essential talent is determining what is most needed at the moment in a game and making it happen. Yes, he averaged an abundant 14.9 points per game, 7.0 assists (tops in conference play, #4 in the state) and 4.0 rebounds during the 19-12 Las Positas College season but his capacity for awareness of timing, matchups and game score is under appreciated. The complete package he brings to the game has now earned him a full scholarship to DII Chadron State College located in Nebraska.

As Patterson succinctly explained, "I'm known as a scorer but I'll do whatever it takes to win." His overall effort this season earned him a spot on the All Coast-North Conference team.

Another strength of Patterson's is leadership. "I use a combination of being vocal but also leading by example. It's important to learn all about a teammate off the court."

Deciding on Chadron

The Chadron State staff conducted a virtual visit with Patterson and "I thought it was a perfect fit," thus explaining the primary factor in his college decision. Patterson made the choice to accept a scholarship around the end of May. What's coincidental but still interesting is that Nick Hilton is an assistant coach at Chadron and led Patterson's recruitment effort. He previously assisted at College of San Mateo and at his alma mater, Jesuit High in Sacramento, so he has familiarity with the Bay Area and northern California. Hilton graduated from Fresno City College and then Bellevue University, also in Nebraska.

As a heralded high school star at Liberty Ranch High in Galt, Patterson traveled to Arizona Western College in Yuma for his freshman year. COVID shut down his freshman year as did a torn ACL. When the school term ended after his sophomore year, Patterson returned home and sought out an area regional community college. He selected Coach James Giacomazzi and Las Positas College, about 60 miles southwest of Galt. Patterson blossomed during the 22-23 season, benefiting from a tight relationship with Giacomazzi. "James and I have a good relationship."

Patterson cited the late Kobe Bryant, 6-foot-1 Trae Young (a star guard with the NBA Atlanta Hawks) and 6-foot-9 Phil Ricci, a Galt native who is currently an assistant coach with the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League, as important basketball influences in his life.

Asked to name his best hoops moments to date, Patterson offered "this year against Yuba College when we felt disrespected as the 13th seed versus the fourth seed" in the CCCAA Northern California Regional Playoffs. A 45-39 second half led to a 79-76 victory at Yuba and Patterson contributed 12 points and 10 assists. His second choice? "I scored 34 points, going 10-11 from the three-point line as a freshman in high school in the section playoffs. I missed my first attempt then made 10 straight."

Patterson offered thanks to many for help during his basketball journey. "For sure my Dad, my Mom and my sisters, Coach Giacomazzi, the Arizona Western coaching staff and Liberty High Coach Josh Williams and Liberty High Coach Brian Chavez."

He's looking to major in business management "so I can run my own business." Ideally, that would involve an athletic complex of some sort.

Moving from scorching temperatures in Arizona to freezing winters in Nebraska, Patterson will be adding multiple winter clothing items to his current wardrobe but his will to succeed whatever the cost isn't changing. Chadron State basketball fans will soon bear witness to his tenacity.

Jackson is 6-foot-10, 250 and originally out of St. Patrick St. Vincent. He was at Washington State before moving on to Charlotte in late April 2023. (which seemed like an unusual move). Could the Bay Area be his next landing spot? One definite factor in Jackson's departure from Charlotte is the head coach recently resigning to return to Virginia as associate head coach.

Travis Hightower Calls It for Chico State

Travis Hightower. What a perfect pairing of names for an athlete. It's easy to imagine hearing such a name being highlighted repeatedly during a game by announcers Jim Nantz or Bill Raftery. Although his parents may have been thinking more football than basketball when naming him, the 6-foot-7 Hightower is moving on from Justin-Siena High in Napa to perennial California Collegiate Athletic Association hoops power Chico State and Coach Greg Clink.

With a Dad and a brother who both played on the gridiron, this Hightower broke the mold. "I tried soccer but it wasn't interesting. With football, there aren't too many 6-foot-7, 180 pound guys playing." So basketball became his go-to sport.

Why the choice of Chico State? "I liked the college feel. I did research on the team and it was the best fit for me." Hightower visited in March, "walking the campus and playing with the team." He made the call soon after.

Asked how the Chico coaching staff envisions using him, Hightower said, "they told me at the 2, the 3 and the 4 spots, depending on matchups." He noted "defending is one of my better skills, rebounding, too."

“We are really excited about Travis," Chico Coach Greg Clink said. "He is a great young man and has a ton of potential. We feel like he can develop into a tremendous player at Chico State and in the CCAA.”

From his freshman year to now, Hightower stated that "my defense and my shooting have really improved. I didn't take many shots as a freshman."

In naming his best basketball moment to date, he pondered momentarily before offering, "I would say my first in-game dunk during my freshman season on the freshman team." It took place late in the season. "I was coming off the bench but I promised people I would get a dunk." Some believed him, others didn't. He proved up to the challenge.

As for leadership, Hightower explained, "I do see myself as a leader. You'll see me talk a lot on the court with my teammates."

He is looking to major in kinesiology at Chico with the idea of getting into sports medicine as a trainer.

Hightower closed out his interview by "thanking my parents for sending me to camps when I was younger and for forcing me to practice when I didn't always want to." Also, "my brothers for always keeping it real" and "all the coaches and friends who believed in me."

There's Skill & Body Development, but What About Basketball IQ?

(written/published back in late December 2015 on one of my earlier blogs—it still seems to have relevancy)

Why has the last couple of high school classes in northern California had so little impact at the D1 level thus far? Let's expand on that premise and attempt to offer some reasons.

Here's the group of current freshmen (with apologies to anyone overlooked) in alphabetical order:

  • Paris Austin, Boise State
  • Noah Blackwell, Long Beach State
  • Marquese Chriss, Washington
  • Armani Collins, Portland State
  • Jesse Hunt, Eastern Washington
  • Matt O'Reilly, Lehigh
  • Josh Patton, Sacramento State
  • Ivan Rabb, California
  • Colin Russell, Portland
  • Isaiah Thomas, Northern Arizona
  • Anthony Townes, Pacific
  • Jeff Wu, Sacramento State

First off, note the small number for Northern California and thus the difficulty in landing a D1 scholarship. Plus, just Austin, Blackwell, Chriss, Rabb, Townes and Wu are even on the court for 12-15 minutes a game or more although it should be noted that playing time averages are somewhat inflated due to early season scheduling of DII and NAIA opponents. Only three, Blackwell, Chriss and Rabb have provided truly impactful contributions thus far.

Even a number of the talents two years out of high school are struggling this season as a year earlier the signees were:

  • Jonathan Galloway, UC Irvine - Galloway redshirted in 2014-15 and now is playing 13 minutes a contest
  • A.J. John, Pepperdine - John is at 12 minutes an outing
  • Lake Lutes, Air Force - not seeing Lutes as having played this season
  • Cam Oliver, Nevada - Oliver is proving to be an exception
  • Malik Pope, San Diego State - Pope is shooting 28% overall in 2015-16
  • Mason Stuteville, Sac State - Stuteville is playing 6.8 minutes a contest
  • Gabe Vincent, UC Santa Barbara - Vincent started right away last season as a frosh and also this one having advanced from 26 minutes per game to just under 34 now
  • D.J. Wilson, Michigan - Wilson is averaging 8 minutes a game after a medical redshirt season
  • Temideyo Yussef, Long Beach State (injured, hasn't played this season)

To get on the court, young bodies must be built stronger, endurance extended, existing skills honed further and new ones developed, new roles accepted and possibly most importantly, the learning of how to defend at the college level is foremost. That's a plate stacked pretty high.

Is it that these two classes were just part of an overall down cycle of talent in Nor Cal? Or is this really the norm?

The answer is impossible to determine without a long term statistical analysis but there are other factors to consider.

  • High school coaching is more and more built on a foundation of winning, or else. Sound familiar? That's also the longtime lament about most spring and summer travel ball.
  • With a prep focus on short term game-planning and preparation, just where does bettering a player fit here?
  • Other elements are players having an over-inflated sense of their current ability and either not feeling the need to work all that hard or not fully understanding what hard work actually is. That, combined with a lack of awareness of what it involves in order to compete at the four-year college level, is becoming more and more of a roadblock. The guess here is that prep coaches could bring in Cuonzo Martin or Johnny Dawkins to talk about how difficult it is to become a solid contributor, let alone a mainstay, on a college team and the impact would still be minimal.
  • This is impossible to quantify but what about the idea that talents today appear to have shorter attention spans so that only so much can be shown on the court and on tape in a session before an over-saturation, eyes-glazed-over level is reached?
  • There certainly are plenty of skill trainers around even if the valid argument is made they vary in levels of aptitude and effectiveness. The opportunities to better shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding skills are there for the taking with the appropriate selection.
  • But who teaches how to defend, especially how to play college level defense? That is, how to guard your individual opponent plus when and how to rotate when the ball swings to the other side of the court, how to close out on a shooter, etc.?
  • Just as important though is who teaches basketball IQ, how to 'see' the game, what to look for and when? Does anyone? But would kids want to take part in such a skill building, especially if it involved viewing tape and not necessarily being out on the court to a large degree?

There's the old business saying "find a niche and fill it" and building better basketball IQs is a wide open opportunity. It would likely have to be incorporated alongside on-the-court hoop skills advancement in order to have any chance of being successful but it's a natural pairing.

Masie Mohammadi's Basketball & Life Journey

From his days on the court at Serra High to his year at Skyline College and eventually his basketball playing and graduations from both Vanguard University in Orange County and Corban University in Salem, Oregon, 6-foot-1 Masie Mohammadi encountered many positive experiences alongside the inevitable bumps and bruises during his basketball sojourn. But rather than cry 'woe is me' and be deterred by the latter, he adopted the mindset to learn from the mishaps and come back stronger. In a unique way, call his challenges exercises in personal strengthening.

Choosing Serra

Residing in San Carlos, Mohammadi had the choice of remaining local come time to attend high school or choosing Serra High in nearby San Mateo. "Most of my friends chose another high school and for sure it was an adjustment for me but I wasn't discouraged," he explained. One element he always kept in mind was the benefits of being a member of the very successful Serra High varsity basketball program. "I knew I could take it on and wasn't intimidated" even though Serra drew the best talents from all over the peninsula. "I was the only freshman to make the junior varsity squad (rather than the freshman team), everyone else was a sophomore."

How did that first decision of many more turn out for Mohammadi? "We won league. I earned the honor of Most Valuable Player and Coach Rapp brought me up to varsity when my season ended." The Serra High varsity team won the CCS open division championship that year. Additionally, "I got a taste of playing for Coach Rapp," a valuable element for any freshman.

Mohammadi's sophomore season involved another critical choice for the young man, one displaying the judiciousness of his decision-making. "My minutes were up and down as a sophomore (2015-16) but I wanted to remain on the varsity team because I was able to create a bond with the guys." He identified with the Serra varsity hoops ethos of "getting after each other super hard but never taking it personal. The idea is to make each other better."

However, he had the option of remaining or dropping down to the junior varsity level where he would play much more and gain game experience. "I was a young kid led by amazing senior leadership in Jeremiah Testa (Menlo College), Lee Jones (Cal Maritime) and Jake Killingsworth (Columbia, UC San Diego) but ultimately I decided to play JV basketball. Our JV team went undefeated in league and I was brought back up to varsity where we won the state championship that year" (beating Long Beach Poly 48-43).

Few at his age possess the astuteness and lack of ego to drop a level and still make the most of that opportunity.

Mohammadi continued, "As a junior, I was able to finally get a full taste of what WCAL basketball is. Plus, there was a personal connection as Parker McDonald, who is also from San Carlos, made the varsity team. "He has always been like a little brother to me so getting the chance to play with him was fun. In the Jungle Game, he scored the game-winning shot on a buzzer beater" to beat St. Ignatius 60-59. In the playoffs, Serra topped Palma but fell to Sequoia. A 60-39 victory over Montgomery was then followed by a season-ending 68-56 loss to Cardinal Newman.

Suhail Mohammadi/Fresno Pacific

Before his senior go-around, Mohammadi set goals of achieving a breakthrough season and getting his college education paid for. His brother Suhail was back home after playing at Fresno Pacific on a full scholarship and his presence aided Mohammadi's focus on basketball. But injury and death came into play.

"The league (West Catholic Athletic League) was stacked with players like Logan Johnson, Darrion Trammell, Riley Grigsby and Jake Wojcik and we had an up-and-down year. Mid-year, I rolled my ankle and then on December 17, my uncle passed away. He was kind of another brother to me and it was the first time I faced a death like that. I was named to the Honorable Mention list as a senior and I put that list in my room to use as future motivation. I ended up with zero scholarship offers and I was asking myself if I still wanted to play basketball while my peers were heading off to four-year schools."

Going with Skyline College

Rather than sulk, blame others or become overwhelmed, Mohammadi again displayed his maturity by controlling the controllable. Opportunity appeared and he seized the moment in order to continue moving forward.

As he explained, "(Skyline College) Coach (Justin) Piergrossi came to our house on a recruiting visit. After that, I realized I owed it to my parents and my brother to keep playing. My parents are the epitome of hard work, and their unwavering support has been a source of immense comfort and inspiration throughout my journey."

The Family Hoops Connection

"My Dad (Wahid) played on the Afghanistan National Team back in the day as did my brother who was also a two-time All Peninsula Athletic Conference selection, a Most Valuable Player at Carlmont High, and a two-time first-team All San Mateo County selection. I was getting recruited by other local junior colleges but knew Skyline College was the best fit for me. So I decided to go to there."

However, Mohammadi knew more would be required of him. But he had no inkling what that would entail.

As he recalled, "I had to really dedicate myself to basketball and I became obsessed with wanting to get better." His transformation began even before his senior year concluded. "This was the summer of separation. It was a grind. Whether at Skyline, with my trainers, or with my brother, I just wanted to work. I became addicted to the game of basketball. My brother, who is eight years older, dedicated a lot of his time to me. He gave me the blueprint and I had to really, really work. We would go to parks at 1:00 a.m. and work out in the dark. He would wake me up in the middle of the night to go work out. There were times I hated him and we would get into real fights. Many times we were so loud that the cops came to the park and told us to leave. But we would go to another park and continue. It was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears but that's how I become who I am. I wouldn't be where I am today without my brother. Only we could understand what we really did during those times and how much it meant. The grind is always undefeated."

The Payoff—Success at Skyline

Results came quickly to Mohammadi at Skyline College. Mohammadi averaged close to 19 points per game, finished third in the state in made threes with 103 while shooting 43%, led the state in threes made per game, and earned a spot on the All-State Honorable Mention team. "I broke the Skyline record for most threes in a game and in a single season. I value that Coach Piergrossi had a better vision for me than I had for myself."

Skyline Coach Justin Piergrossi remains thankful for the opportunity to mentor Mohammadi. "Even though Masie was disappointed with his senior season, I knew he had tremendous potential playing in our offense. Coming out of Serra, he was clearly prepared and ready to play right away. His biggest adjustments were going to be all things he could control, and he did just that.”

Piergrossi continued, "Masie put up some incredible numbers during his freshman season at Skyline. But one of the statistics that usually goes unnoticed is that he did it all on on just 13 shot attempts per game. He bought into our model of efficiency and did all of his scoring within our offense. He learned how to play better off the ball and became multi-dimensional. Masie was incredibly coachable and as competitive as they come."

In conclusion he offered,"although I only had one season coaching Masie, it was a very rewarding one. He is a special player, and person. He has an impact on everyone he comes into contact with and I’m so proud he represents our program."

After his bountiful season, Mohammadi received a few offers to play at the next level. "Vanguard University (an NAIA program in Orange County) was the first team to reach out to me. Assistant Coach Taylor Kelly texted me after I played well in an August tournament at City College of San Francisco."

In mapping out and weighing his options, "Vanguard proved to be the best choice for me as they aligned perfectly with my personal values and principles. The location was perfect because I wanted to play college basketball in Southern California and it was a full scholarship offer. I knew I wasn't a D1 player at the time -- a D1 shooter, yes -- but my body wasn't ready for D1. So I visited Vanguard and accepted the next day. I went from doubting myself to earning a scholarship."

Building Bonds

"We (Vanguard) traveled to Taiwan that summer to play in a tournament with teams from Taiwan, China, New Zealand and the Philippines -- it was the first time being out of the country for me." Most important of all for Mohammadi, "we did a lot of team bonding during the trip."

"I played well my first year there, becoming the starting shooting guard mid-way through the year. The pace was so much faster and the coaches demanded a lot more. Each player had a role, a job, and my goal was to master my job -- that being make shots, lead, and defend. I took pride in my defense and definitely improved my defense from my time at Serra High. We didn't make the playoffs my first year there and then COVID hit in March."

"My junior year at Vanguard was the shortened COVID season  as we played only 12 or 13 games. But we won our side of the conference, got to play in the national tournament up in Idaho but lost to a team we should have beaten." Mohammadi led the team in made threes.

In his final season at Vanguard, "I stepped up my leadership role. I've always been a leader and had a knack for leadership by knowing how to approach the group and how to take guys aside. “Leadership can get lonely for sure but I embrace it and just try to bring energy anytime I step on the floor.”

Mohammadi's tenure at Vanguard was well-rounded, culminating in the blossoming of multiple relationships with coaches and teammates alongside a college degree

"My three years at Vanguard were some of the best times of my life. A lot of coaches don't value relationships (with their players) -- they see it as a business but I enjoyed creating a real relationship with Coach Rhett Soliday, Coach Taylor Kelly, the other assistant coaches as well as my teammates which included guys from so many different backgrounds and cultures due to players being from all over the world. It was super fun to play at Vanguard. We made the national tournament back-to-back years while I was there. I became way more dedicated to school work than when I was at Serra and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Business Administration."

Transferring to Corban University

With a year of eligibility remaining, Mohammadi wanted to earn an MBA degree in business during that time frame, quite the goal considering the time also required for basketball. A decision on his next school would need to accommodate this desire. Luckily for him, a former coach noted Mohammadi's availability.

"Taylor Kelly contacted me (he had left after my sophomore season for the head coach position at Corban University in Salem, Oregon) and offered a scholarship." That worked because Corban offered a one-year MBA program.

So Corban it was. During the summer, Kelly took his team (including Mohammadi) to Equador on a mission trip and to play some pro teams from South America. "The people treated us like we were LeBron James or Steph Curry. On our trip, we shared a lot and this vulnerability became a big asset in our lives. Everyone has a unique story and we became super close."

The trip put many of things into perspective for Mohammadi. “We are incredibly fortunate to live the lives we live. Gratitude enriches our lives, improves our relationships, and promotes emotional well-being and this trip did that. We were very talented this year and won 20 games and made the national tournament. These guys will forever be my brothers."

Untimely Injury

Mohammadi's biggest hurdle in life thus far came close to season's end. The foremost nightmare of any player is suffering a serious injury and that is what occurred.

A week before the conference tournament, a day before Senior Night and against fierce rival Southern Oregon, "I went to steal a full-court pass, landed on one leg, and felt a pop. I was rolling around on the ground screaming. Our trainer put me through some tests and I guess my adrenaline was flowing because it seemed like I was okay. Coach put me back in the game but when I got into a defensive stance off the ball, my right knee gave out. I hobbled out to the hallway saying 'it's over, I'm done'. I knew it was a torn ACL."

"The worst was that my parents were there. My brother, who planned to fly in the next day, checked my game stats and knew something was up. He eventually talked with my parents and broke down when he heard the news. The next night, in front of my parents and my brother, my coaches worked it out with the opposing coach for me to get the ball from the tip off and the defense allowed me to shoot a layup to begin the game. That was the last basket of my career."

"I believe everything happens for a reason, everybody's journey is different. I was in bed for weeks after surgery and it was not fun at all. I hated it. I was definitely tested mentally. The best thing was March Madness being on those weeks."

Another element played a big factor in his mindset. "The love I got from the Vanguard folks and people from Serra and Skyline and all over the Bay Area in texts and phone calls after my injury meant a lot to me."

Mohammadi still earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Corban and wants to eventually work in the high tech industry.

Wisdom Gained

"It has definitely been a ride but it's important to ride the bus with the people who are in your corner, like those who helped me become who I am today," Mohammadi said. "Work hard, trust the process and be true to yourself. Basketball has done so much for me and I'm not done yet. I'm in rehab mode now and it's day-to-day, but I hope to play overseas eventually. We’ll see. My story is still being written. But first I want to get into college coaching, possibly starting at Skyline College. I enjoy coaching and I think I have a knack for it. I want to mentor, give back, and be a resource for the next generation."

"Another thing I've realized as part of embracing the process is understanding that no matter how focused you are or how hard you work, you can't force how fast the results come. Manage your emotions as things unfold and focus on what you can control. Basketball has given me many life lessons."

The life of Masie Mohammadi touches much on the human spectrum. Challenges with no easy answers, unselfishness, relishing relationships, utilizing long-term vision in decision-making, a strong emphasis on family, blood-related and not, personal growth, and always skill development. All in a prism of basketball.
