Wednesday, Nov 29, NCAA scores

San Jose State University 82, Long Beach State 66 box. SJSU kicked sand in the faces of the Long Beach State program after being tied at 34 late in the first 20 minutes. The Spartans have a three-game winning streak.

California 81, Mercyhurst 55 box. 6-foot-1 freshman Jeremiah Wilkinson did it again with a team best 25 points for the Bears. He shot 9-12, 6-8 and 1-2 respectively.

Pacific 83, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 71 box. As expected, Elijah Fisher was in the lead for the host Tigers with 28 points. 6-foot-7 teammate Elias Ralph also played large and efficient with 18 points (5-9 overall shooting, 0-2 on treys and 8-8 at the foul line), 13 boards, seven assists and a pair of blocked shots. For APB, 6-foot-5 Dante (McAteer High/Antioch High/Salesian Prep/CCSF/North Idaho CC) Sawyer ended with 16 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. He shot 6-10, 2-3 and 2-2 respectively and likely had family in the stands.

Sacramento State 63, Air Force 61 box. EJ (CCSF/Idaho) Neal and Julian (St Joseph Notre Dame/CCSF/Chico State/U of Alberta) Vaughns each paced the Hornets with 12 points.

Incarnate Word 76, Western Illinois 75 box. Wing Dylan (Healdsburg High) Hayman scored 17 points, shooting 7-12, 2-3 and 1-1 respectively for the victors.

Thursday, Nov 30, NCAA scores

Santa Clara 69, Texas Christian 52 box. SC won both 20 minute sessions in taking down a team with a winning record as guard Carlos Stewart led the success with 18 points. Teammate Elijah (West Valley College) Mahi scored 13 points and 6-foot-9 Jake Ensminger had a unique contribution having missed all three treys he attempted and scoring zero points but leading the Broncos with both 11 rebounds and five assists.

Washington 73, Colorado State 67 box. 6-foot-8 sophomore Tyler (Newark Memorial High/Salesian Prep/Granada High/Portland) Harris paced the Huskies with 24 points (9-13 overall shooting, 5-8 on treys) and tied for the team lead in boards with eight.

St. Mary's 71, USC 32 box. In a weird one, the Gaels came damn close to doubling up on the Trojans, scoring a progressive 32 and then 39 points while USC was regressive at 21 and 15. Coach Eric Musselman's guys shot 13-50 overall and an even more ghastly 0-12 from long distance. Hard to believe Muss is 60 years old. Probably feels like 90 after this one.

6-foot-8, 190 sophomore Tyler (Newark Memorial High/Salesian Prep/Granada High/Portland) Harris is in Seattle this season and averaging a team high 14.2 points per game in five contests, two starts and just below 29 minutes an outing. He is shooting 54%, 43% and 79% respectively. Harris is grabbing 6.2 rebounds nightly, has a team-leading 13 blocked shots, five steals but has yet to register an assist versus eight turnovers. Granted, he needs to beef up his body plus develop the capacity to create for others but he is already the second best player on the Huskies squad.
