His 24-footer at the 0:54 mark brought UCD within three at 77-74 before Davis evened up the score. California then reversed course with a thriller, a 72-71 come-from-behind victory over visiting Notre Dame. 6-foot-2 junior guard Dai Dai Ames might be elected chancellor of the school right now as he finished with 23 points but how he managed them in such a short time frame is nothing short of remarkable. With 0:11 on the clock in the second half, he buried a 25-footer to bring the Bears within one at 69-68. Six seconds later, he tied the game at 71 with yet another 25-footer. Having been fouled on the play, he subsequently nailed the free throw for the eventual margin as ND missed a longer trey attempt just before the buzzer. Cal now stands 13-2. Write For California game report.
The Notre Dame coach was not happy with the officiating.
