Verbal Commits: "North Texas F Baron Smith, Jr. has entered the transfer portal."

The reason behind this post is because SJSU offered him a year ago before he went with North Texas. Smith is 6-foot-9, 220 and it looks like he redshirted as a freshman. Not sure why. Might the Spartans pursue him again as they desperately needs bigs?

........................................

Brian Davis: "Note here that a good Division I roster will cost you anywhere from $5-7 million. That's roughly 25-35% of the revenue sharing total for 2025-26. ADs have to ask themselves: How bad do you want to be good in hoops?"

........................................

6-foot-8, 260 Robert Vaihola is transferring from San Jose State University to University of Minnesota. The product of Archbishop Riordan was recruited by Niko Medved, the new Gopher head coach coming up from Colorado State where he enjoyed a very successful run. CSU plays SJSU twice a year so Medved knew Vaihola's strengths and weaknesses well. What's funny is that the previous Minnesota coach had Frank Mitchell playing for him. The 6-foot-8, 270 Mitchell has since entered the travel portal, hence the opening.

"Former Santa Clara SG Tyeree Bryan commits to Texas Tech"

........................................

FYI: "JT Toppin expected to command $4 million NIL package to return to Texas Tech"

The Big 12 Player of The Year, the 6-foot-9, 225 pound Toppin scored 18.2 points and grabbed 9.4 rebounds. He shot 55%, 38% and 68% with 48 blocked shots. The Red Raiders did lose 6-foot-5 star Darrion (Capital Christian) Williams to the transfer portal (hence the need for Tyeree Bryan).

Toppin is a big contributor and the team really needed him to return to have the chance of again being very successful so...

........................................

Then there is this: Grayson Grundhoefer: "A source close to the situation tells me that Rob Wright to BYU is a done deal and the NIL amount is $3.5 million."

The 6-foot-1 Wright is now a former freshman Baylor backcourter who averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 rebounds this past season. He shot 41%, 35% and 80% respectively and posted a 148/72 assist to turnover ratio. There has been chatter about this being a controversial signing and of possible tampering so sit back and enjoy.

Modesto Junior College Men's Basketball: "Ylan Esso-Essis has received an offer from Division 1 Georgia Southern (Sun Belt Conference)"

Don't see this one happening but I've never offered a scholarship or been offered one.
