"Chabot Men's Basketball is ineligible for post-season competition for the 2024-25 & 2025-26 seasons"

Just noticed the above at the Chabot Men's Basketball site. It has to be difficult to find plus talents who want to come and play when post-season eligibility is not available yet the Gladiators are a solid 5-1 with the sole loss being a three-point overtime defeat to a 7-2 squad down in southern California.

.........................

Last Monday, Louisiana Tech defeated Southern Illinois 85-79 in overtime with 6-foot-3 shooting guard Al (Franklin High/San Diego City College) Green scoring 19 points in the victory. The game was part of a tournament taking place in Florida. Here's our November 2023 feature on Al Green.

.........................

6-foot-2 redshirt junior Myron (Vacaville High/Scotland Prep/San Jose State University) Amey Jr. departed SJSU and the Mountain West Conference after the season and headed south to Los Angeles and the West Coast Conference. In the new season, he has participated in six games/four starts for 22 minutes a contest while averaging 7.8 points per outing. Amey Jr. is shooting 32%, 20% and 82% while grabbing 2.5 rebounds nightly. He has been credited with four assists, two turnovers and an impressive 11 steals. Amey Jr. averaged 15.7 points a matchup in his last Spartan season.

6-foot-4 senior David (Moreau Catholic High/Chabot College) Hector is in his second year at Southwest Baptist University (MO) and thus far this season in four games/three starts and 27 minutes an outing is averaging 9.5 points per contest. He is shooting 57%, 44% and 29% alongside 6.3 rebounds -- all improvements, minus his ft%—over his previous season. As a junior, his 790 minutes played was second most on team while his 150 boards and 73 assists took first place.

In seven games/starts and 19 minutes an outing for Western Washington University, 6-foot-8, 225 junior Dajon "Money" (Elk Grove High/Sacramento City College) Lott has averaged 9.6 points and 5.1 boards while shooting 43%, 18% and 57% respectively. 6-foot-5, 200 EJ (Sacred Heart Cathedral/CCSF/Idaho) Neal is nearer to home at Sacramento State this season and in six games/starts, 24.5 minutes an outing is averaging 10.5 points plus 4.8 boards while shooting 43%, 40% and 67% respectively. He has also earned 12 assists and a team best eight steals. Being back in the Golden State is certainly suiting him. Here's my article on EJ Neal from April 2023.

5-foot-7 Dayton (San Joaquin Delta College) Magaña moved on to Linfield College (OR) this season and is averaging a second-on-the-team 11.8 points per game in six contests, zero starts and 16 minutes an outing. Arizona State 68, St. Mary's 64 box. In Palm Springs, the Gaels had the opportunity to earn a victory which may have ended up helping in their placement in the Big Dance and that's a tough loss. The good news is that 6-foot-3 sophomore Jordan Ross led St. Mary's with both 19 points and four assists and also contributed seven rebounds. He shot 4-5 from three-point range.

Texas Tech 89, Northern Colorado 64 box. Darrion (Capital Christian High/Nevada) Williams led TT with 21 points, added 10 boards and shot 6-9, 3-5 and 6-6 respectively. The Cardinal led 43-34 at the half, giving up 63 points in the second 20 minutes. New Mustang Coach Mike DeGeorge will now be able to describe what heaven feels like.

Sunday, Dec 1, NCAA scores

Kansas State 120, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 73 box. When the margin of victory is 47 points and the victor not in doubt prior to half time, the expectation is someone as lauded as Coleman (Antelope High/Prolific Prep/Illinois) Hawkins would pile up the points and rebounds early. Well, he scored two points alongside four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 26 minutes. But call this a one-off.

USF 87, Mercyhurst 59 box. Guard Malik Thames scored 29 points and the Dons used a 55-23 second 20 minutes to pull away.

Fordham 83, New Hampshire 61 box. In his first extensive amount of playing, freshman guard Ryan (Serra High) Pettis earned 18 minutes of court time, buried his single trey attempt but missed a two-pointer, grabbed three rebounds plus a pair of steals, committed two turnovers and was charged with one foul.
