6-foot-5, 155 pound combo guard Chase Rawlins, a 2025 sharpshooting prospect, is part of a hoops royalty family of sorts in the Folsom area. His 5-foot-11 sister Ava, also attends Folsom High in the 2025 class, plays the point and already possesses offers from USC and California. Chase's 6-foot-7 older brother Mitchell is a Folsom High graduate who is currently a freshman at Orange Coast College down in Costa Mesa (Orange County).
Best Skills
Asked to detail his best basketball skills, Chase offered, "my long-distance shooting and my creativity finishing. I'm a good ballhandler with good footwork and an excellent first step." He credits area basketball trainer and former professional baller Danielle Viglione for his shooting prowess. "My form is good with no hitch."
Rawlins credits his brother Mitchell "for teaching me basketball and pushing me really hard." This is a family to avoid if ever there is a local family hoops tournament featuring the teaming up of one sister and two brothers.
Regarding leadership, he understands the need to step it up this season. "We lost five well-respected seniors so I need to do a better job vocally." Last season, Folsom finished 26-4 overall, 10-0 in the Sierra Foothill League. Rawlins averaged 7.3 points per game.
The Rose City Ballers
He plays for Coach Brandon White and the Rose City Ballers. Here's Rawlins on White: "I want to thank Coach White for helping in getting getting my name out.
Then White on his junior: "Chase comes from a great family, Julie and Joe have done a great job raising their kids. Chase might be the best pure scorer to ever come through our program. He’s very similar to Jaylen Wells (our former player, currently at Washington State) but he might be further along with his development at this point. His versatility makes him extremely hard to guard, he’s like a Swiss Army knife. When he gets it going he’s tough to stop. He once scored 22 straight points in a games for us in the spring. He’s also an underrated defender. His length allows him to guard multiple positions. His recruitment is really starting to pick up. He’s heard from a hand full of D1/D2’s. I’m very confident that he will receive multiple offers come the AAU season this spring. Look for Chase to have a big time season at Folsom."
Rawlins provided a pair of responses when asked about his best basketball moments. "When I scored 25 points in a breakout game last season" plus "Folsom High winning the Edison tourney."
So why basketball as his sport of choice and not another endeavor? "My Dad played basketball plus I started early on a recreation team with my sister." He also played soccer but that participation dissipated by the third grade.
What Rawlins Wants
Looking for a college coach who will develop him as a player, Rawlins also wants to enjoy a well-rounded relationship with his future head coach, not only coaching on the court. He wants to be in a program where everyone works hard, pulling in the same direction.
He will be a business major in order to work as a realtor. Rawlins is an ace academically, posting a 3.90 grade point average.
He expects he'll likely still be in California once the recruiting process is completed.
