Tony Robinson Obituary

As SJSU Student Body President, Tony was also instrumental in getting the SJSU students to pass a referendum to build The Event Center on campus. Without that, it would be back to playing at the Civic Auditorium downtown.

"Stephen Anthony Robinson "Tony" - husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend - passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while on a morning walk with his wife, Lea and their beautiful labs on February 6, 2023 at home in Sonora. He was 63 years old.

Born to Don and Catharine Robinson in San Francisco on July 26,1959, Tony attended Stuart Hall for Boys and graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep. He went on to graduate from San Jose State University where he served as ASB President and was very involved in the SJSU Basketball Program. Throughout his adult life, Tony continued on as an enthusiastic SJSU basketball booster.

It was at SJSU where he met his beloved wife, Lea, and many of his lifelong friends. Over the course of Tony's professional career he worked for Gallo Wines, Sunkist Growers, Presto Food Products and retired after 27 years from S. Martinelli & Co. as National Director of Sales and Marketing. He developed and valued strong relationships over the course of his successful career in the food and beverage industry.

Tony was a man of strong faith. He lived his life based in the Truth, the teachings of the Catholic Church, always striving to live it with love. Throughout his life, Tony found joy in supporting many Catholic organizations as well as most recently being part of the St. Patrick's Parish Community in Sonora.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Lea, his two cherished children: Nic (Lindsey), and Hannahrose (Kevin). He was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren who called him Pa: Noah, Harper, and Willow Robinson and Kennedy Capri Laidlaw. Tony is survived by loving siblings and in-laws: Anne, Mary, Lucy (Greg), David S.J., Joseph and Peter (Rosemary) and predeceased by his sister Judee (Raj). Tony was adored by many nieces and nephews and grand nephews and nieces. He has left behind many great friends whom he cherished. Tony's loving and generous spirit will live on in all of us, and we are forever grateful.

A celebration of the Mass will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023. Reception follows with food, drink and opportunity to share your memories of Tony. In lieu of flowers, Tony would be happy with donations to St. Vincent de Paul and St. Patrick's Seminary and University in Menlo Park, CA."
