In it, Wells gives props to his stay at Sonoma State with: "...It started in high school when I committed there. Everybody was telling me I should’ve gone Division I and tried to walk on. I thought that was the best decision for me to be in a program that wanted me there, had a plan for my development, and allowed me to be a leader by developing on and off the floor..."
And: "...Shout out to Sonoma State because they helped me get to Washington State. At the end of the season, we had a conversation, and they said they’d do anything they could to get me to the best place possible, which I’d assume is not common for every school..."

Will Corbett (Bellarmine Prep, San Jose) Jr.
There could be another solid early season outing for Will that we’re missing as his totals for 3-0 Bellarmine’s win on Tuesday vs Monte Vista of Danville (which was 4-1 entering the night) were not yet reported.
Corbett ended his sophomore season helping the Bells reach the CIF NorCal D2 semifinals where they fell to Oakland High and by just three points. Corbett, a crafty point guard, had 20 points in a 62-60 overtime win in the second round vs Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland. He was named first team All-West Catholic Athletic League, a strong honor as a sophomore in the best league in Northern California.
To start this season, Corbett didn’t have to do much in Bellarmine’s 66-29 win vs Half Moon Bay but still ended with 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds. He had 30 points in his second game, which was a 56-41 victory over Fremont of Oakland at the NorCal Ultimate Challenge.
Corbett also is coming into this season after enjoying a strong summer played for the Jalen Green Elite travel program. He had numerous writeups on recruiting platforms and is started to get mid-level D1 recruiting interest."

Archbishop Riordan HS Basketball wins its second Gridley championship and its first since 2006. Last Thursday, Cal State U Monterey Bay bested visiting UC Merced 69-62 as the Sea Otters shot 50% overall, 11-18 on trey attempts and 8-10 at the foul line. For the Merced-ites, Cameron (Bishop O'Dowd) Brown totaled 16 points plus three boards with teammate Aidan (Dougherty Valley High/Regis University) Sevilla adding 13 points and a team high three assists.
On Saturday
Chico State hosted and beat Cal Poly Humboldt 93-81 with three Wildcats scoring 20+ points—conference scoring leader JoJo (Piedmont High) Murphy led with 26 points (as well as five assists), Isaiah (St. Francis High/Montana) Kerr totaled 24 and Miles (De La Salle) Daniels 22. Rob Diaz paced Humboldt with 23 points.
On the road, Cal State East Bay topped Seattle Pacific 71-64 as 6-foot-5 senior Teiano (Vanden High/Sacramento State) Hardee's 17 points paced the Pioneers. He shot 5-9, 2-4 and 5-6 respectively.
Despite falling 88-67 at home to Mount Vernon Nazarene, Illyaas (Marysville High/Yuba College) Rafiq totaled 19 points including five treys and point Drew (Galt High/Sacramento City College) Fischer dishes out six assists in 21 minutes for Cal Maritime.

California 84, Northwestern State 66 box. The Bears used a 48-33 second half to pull away from NS as Andrej (Jesuit High/Stanford) Stojakovic exploded for 31 points. He shot 10-14, 4-6 and 7-8 respectively, adding seven rebounds, four assists and a trio of rejections.
Santa Clara 84, Bradley 74 box. In Henderson, Nevada, Elijah (West Valley College) Mahi paced the Broncos scoring with 23 points.
Boise State 67, St. Mary's 65 OT box. None of the Gael "primary shooters" enjoyed even a solid night. The best that can be gleaned is redshirt freshman Andrew (Granada High) McKeever going for nine points and eight boards in 24 minutes. Paulius Murauskas played but 14 minutes and was likely injured either prior to the game or during it.
San Jose State University 107, Cal Poly 100 OT box. Sadaidriene Hall posted a 33 point, 11 rebound double-double and teammate Josh Uduje lined up 23 and 10 as the Spartans were firing on all pistons offensively. But so was Cal Poly. However, defending for both teams received a DNP.
UC Davis 69, Sacramento State 62 box. Julian (St. Joseph Notre Dame/CCSF/ Alberta) Vaughns of the Hornets proved to be the best local on either team with a total of 15 points on 5-8, 3-4, -2 shooting.
UNLV 72, Pacific 65 box.The Tigers earned six more free throw attempts but were out-shot in long distance (going a paltry 4-21) and overall accuracy. Pacific is now 0-6 on the road.
Seattle 111, Pacific OR 44 box 6-foot-8 forward Will (Williams High - Marin County) Heimbrodt scored 11 points in 23 minutes during his first extensive playing time for the Redhawks.
